about
This tune originated many years ago in a project far, far away. It never left my brain. Its revision was well underway before the story of Nova Scotia's infamous Black Widow unfolded but her story contributes to its energy, without doubt.
lyrics
Black Widow
Met him on a trip to Mexico, made him her man at a carnival stand
Ten dollars was a very good deal
She left him in a little motel, took all his money, the keys to his car
Ten dollars bought a very good meal
Finally had a love and it felt so fine, then he turns around and it's all been lies, all been lies
Finally had a love and it felt so fine, then he turns around and it's all been lies, all been lies
Next one in Reno thought his luck had changed, she sat by him and drank champagne
Cashed his chips while he played
Then there was another down near Frisco Bay, she almost fell, almost stayed
But money talked so she walked
Is there any other way of living? She plays the cards that she's been given
Fools and desperadoes and the broken hearted, flies to fly paper when she gets started.
Finally had a love and it felt so fine, then he turns around and it's all been lies, all been lies
Finally had a love and it felt so fine, then he turns around and it's all been lies, all been lies
She moved north settling down, another man, another town
Almost happy, almost good
He was kind and she got bored, temptation was too hard to ignore
Slipped into the night, while she could.
Is there any other way of living? She plays the cards that she's been given
Fools and desperadoes and the broken hearted, flies to fly paper when she gets started
Finally had a love and it felt so fine, then he turns around and it's all been lies, all been lies
Finally had a love and it felt so fine, then he turns around and it's all been lies, all been lies
Lies, lies, lies and deception. Lies, lies, lies and deception.
